A good working knowledge of twining will be helpful, but beginners are welcome.

To maximize time for the fun of color and pattern play, please bring a completed base to class. Instructions for making the base will be sent to you prior to the workshop. You may enroll in the Friday evening “Make a Base” class with Susan Hanks on Friday, July 12.

You may wish to plan your project or come with an open mind and play with the many options presented, designing your basket along the way. Depending on experience, you may or may not complete this project during class.

Please bring your own waxed linen to class. Waxed linen also will be available for purchase from CBBG during the workshop. Registrants will be sent detailed information about amount, sizes, and colors of waxed linen needed.

About Your Instructor

After 30 years in the fashion industry as a garment and textile designer, Claudia Mullek moved to the state of Washington and now lives on the Entiat River, which flows out of Glacier National Wilderness through a beautiful valley to the Columbia River. In 2007, Claudia had an opportunity to attend Tidal Twinings, the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild’s retreat on the Oregon coast. Claudia enjoyed this introduction to basketry and continues exploring the many possibilities of this artform. Claudia took a workshop with Lois Russell in 2017 at the Conference of Northern California Handweavers. She has taken waxed linen twining workshops from other weavers including Linda Scherz Allen and Cael Chappell. This workshop focuses on Lois’ techniques combined with Claudia’s many years of experience.
