Welcome to the
Columbia Basin Basketry Guild
The purpose of the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild is to preserve, promote, and teach the art of basketry
The CBBG is a nonprofit organization of members sharing a love of basketry since 1989.
Sharing ideas, information, and techniques are some of the favorite things that basket makers love to do. The Columbia Basin Basketry Guild (CBBG) was formed for these very reasons.
During the summer of 1989, a small group of basket makers from the Portland/Vancouver area got together and formed a basketry guild. An organizational meeting was held and more than 30 people attended. After only a few short months, membership grew to more than 100, with members from Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and California.
The Columbia Basin Basketry Guild is made up of women and men from all walks of life. Members include those who have just made their first baskets, basket collectors, professional basket makers, basketry teachers, those who make lots of baskets, basketry material suppliers, and those who just love baskets. The appreciation of and love of baskets is what we all have in common.
