My journey into basketry and weaving started with my favorite Tia' (aunt) Cheva. Watching her put such dedication into the things she created with her hands instilled in me the desire to find the discipline to create beautiful objects.
In my work, you will see a great emphasis on the use of natural materials gathered from different areas in Oregon. The forest is where I collect western red cedar bark and root for my baskets. The cherry bark is harvested from the property of a small woodlands forester. And of course, there is the beautiful Oregon coast where I enjoy finding cool driftwood, kelp and other fun and mysterious objects that I can use in my weaving.
