DONNA CARLSON’S PINE NEEDLE BASKET
About the basket and artist
Donna has been making baskets since 1979. Since then, basketry has become a major and fulfilling part of her life. She has taught in major conferences and conventions throughout the United States, specializing in pine needle basketry and cedar bark basketry.
In Donna’s words…
” And what a good time I'm having... traveling the world's seven continents, teaching and meeting such neat people, gathering materials and producing baskets out of cedar, pine needles, birch, porcupine quills, or anything else that is long, strong and pliable. Silver and gold, too. I am one of the four founders of the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild and for the last three years was the chair of the Retreat Committee.
“I find that pine needles are relaxing to work with and that this kind of basket doesn't have to be planned, it evolves. Size and pattern can be changed as the basket grows, sometimes emerging totally differently than anticipated.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to own a basket by this extraordinary weaver, teacher, and leader in our community.
Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. You can purchase them using the retreat registration form, at a regular guild meeting starting in May 2005, or by using this form (form coming soon!).
