A DRAWING BY JUDY MILES
About the basket and artist
CBBG member Judy Miles has created this extraordinary work of art for this year’s raffle. The work is done in color pencil medium on terra cotta paper, 15” x 19”. It is double matted and framed under glass in a black narrow metal frame. Framed work is 22” x 28”. This piece won 2nd Place - Portrait Division at the Annual Color Pencil Northwest Show.
In Judy’s words…
“Texture plays a major role in my art. It is what first excites me to attempt an art piece. I am fascinated by the smoothness of water, hardness of glass, or the twisting and confusion of rope. Because I am not limited to a particular subject I explore the textures of ordinary and unique items that have often been overlooked by the casual observer. Each art piece presents its own challenge, and often I will use colored paper to add more excitement to the process. My goal is to let the viewer experience a mood or feeling in an intriguing manner and hopefully they will take note of the wonderful world of contrast in the textures that drew me to it.”
Judy R. D. Miles is a member of the Color Pencil Society of America and has won numerous awards at regional shows in the Northwest.
Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. You can purchase them using the retreat registration form, at a regular guild meeting starting in May 2006, or by contacting Marge Meyer at meyermarg2@mac.com.
