Visiting Instructors
We are proud to offer a wonderful variety of classes this year by 12 different instructors. Four of these instructors are from outside the Pacific Northwest: Jo Campbell-Amsler (Iowa), Joan Moore (Michigan), Keiko Takeda (Tokyo, Japan), and Eric Taylor (New Hampshire). This is a great opportunity to take classes from these instructors without having to travel far from home!

Class offerings
New this year, we are offering mini demonstation classeson Wednesday evening, with full and part-day classes from Thursday through Sunday morning. Classes are offered at various skill levels. Materials fees are listed with the class descriptions and are paid to the instructor at the beginning of class. Click here for more information.

Activities

  • Bag Raffles Anyone can donate weaving materials, books, or anything of interest, and everyone gets the chance to bring them home by participating in the bag raffles. Folks buy tickets, then put tickets in the bag corresponding to the item they want. The winner is then drawn at random. There will be 2 bag raffles, one on Thursday evening and one on Friday evening.
  • Oral Auction The items of most interest, donated by participants and sponsors, will be auctioned off in a live oral auction on Saturday night. All proceeds help to offset the costs of the retreat.
  • Exhibit – This year’s exhibit theme is “Taking Care of Business: Finishing the Unfinished Basket .” Come on, we know you have one, and we're here to encourage you to finish it! Any basket started before and finished during 2006 is eligible. So stop neglecting it. Get it done and off your to-do list. We'll celebrate its completion together!
  • Evening Presentation – On Friday night, one of our instructors will give a presentation related to basketry and/or sculptural form..
  • Raffle Basket Each year we raffle off a basket made by one of our distinguished guild members. This year’s "basket" is a little different. We are excited to offer one of Judy Miles' color pencil drawings of a basket weaver's hands. The winning ticket will be drawn on Saturday night after the auction. Though we'd love to have you with us, you don't need to be present to win the "basket". Click here for more information on the basket and how you can win it!
