About the 2007 Fall Retreat (September 19-23)
The Tidal Twinings Fall Retreat is 5 days of weaving, instruction, activities and good conversation with friends devoted to the art of basketmaking. Camp B'nai Brith in Lincoln City, on the Oregon Coast, is a beautiful, setting that can be as action-packed or as relaxing as you want it to be.

Registration
Registrations are open to everyone age 16 and over. Those who are not members of the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild or the Northwest Basket Weavers Guild pay a $25 premium on the registration fee. Meals are provided as part of the registration fee, beginning with breakfast on Thursday morning and ending with breakfast on Sunday. The registration form has additional information. Click here for Retreat Brochure.

Visiting Instructors
We are proud to offer a wonderful variety of classes this year by 14 different instructors. Three of these instructors are from outside the Pacific Northwest: Jo Campbell-Amsler (Iowa), Susan Brooks (New Hampshire), and Donna Kallner (Wisconcin). This is a great opportunity to take classes from these instructors without having to travel far from home!

Class offerings
New this year, we are offering mini demonstation classes on Wednesday evening, with full and part-day classes from Thursday through Sunday morning. Classes are offered at various skill levels. Materials fees are listed with the class descriptions and are paid to the instructor at the beginning of class. Click here for complete class information. Just want to see which classes are already full and which still have room? Check out the Class Status page.

Activities

  • Bag Raffles – Anyone can donate weaving materials, books, or anything of interest, and everyone gets the chance to bring them home by participating in the bag raffles. Folks buy tickets, then put tickets in the bag corresponding to the item they want. The winner is then drawn at random. There will be 2 bag raffles, one on Thursday evening and one on Friday evening.
  • Silent Auction – The items of most interest, donated by participants and sponsors, will be auctioned off in a silent auction, ending on Saturday night. All proceeds help to offset the costs of the retreat.
  • Exhibit – This year’s exhibit theme is “Knotless or Knot ” Any basket finished since the last retreat in September 2006 is eligible.
  • Evening Presentation – On Friday night, one of our instructors will give a presentation related to basketry and/or sculptural form..
  • Raffle Basket – Each year we raffle off a basket made by one of our distinguished guild members. This year’s "basket" is a little different. We are excited to offer a basket-themed quilt. See the registration brochure for more information on the quilt and how you can win it.
