Cattail Gathering 2025
Date and time: Saturday, August 9, 2025. 9am-1pm PT.
Location: Private Land Owner; Gaston, Oregon. (Directions and Address will be emailed to registrants closer to the date.)
Cost: $10, non-refundable. (This fee goes back into the Guild to support various programs.) It’s tradition that we thank our host with a small basket or gift, if possible.

Description: Columbia Basin Basketry Guild is hosting their annual Cattails (Typha latifolia) Gathering. Members only! If you are not a Guild member, but would like to become one, we welcome you. Click here to become a member.
Tools to bring:
*Sharp large knife and or loppers. I have a few extra.
*Sheet, shower curtain or tarp approximately 6ft in length
* Broom stick or Rod to keep the cattails straight.
*Ties or rope.
*Drinking water /and or snack.
*Shoes or Boots for the mud. This is a pond.
*Change of shoes and socks if needed.
Note: Practice sustainable harvesting, leaving No Trace Behind. Remember this is private land. Beavers live on one side of the pond which we will not disturb. NO DOGS. Be aware: There are yellow jackets galore on site.
