Supplies Needed: A sharp awl or pocketknife, cutting board or piece of wood at least 3x4” and ¼-inch thick, small flat ruler, three plastic (not paper) twist ties, needle nose pliers or other crimping tool, 5 small clips, blue painter’s tape, tub for soaking, spray bottle, small towel.

Description: This three-colored round reed basket is loaded with technique for the intermediate-to-advanced weaver. You will start by making a split-spoke base and use bi-spoking, hidden joins, Japanese weave, triple twining, reverse twining, and three-rod waling. For the sides you will use a three-rod arrow chasing weave with step ups to create swirling arrows. You will complete your fruit basket with a sturdy four-row rolled border. Techniques used draw heavily on Flo Hoppe’s book, Wicker Basketry. Students are encouraged to bring their copy if they have one. Instructor will have a couple of copies available for reference.

Must have experience with twining and have made at least three baskets with reed or willow.
