June General Meeting: Brenda Brainard, Native American Storyteller and Basket Maker

Brenda Brainard is Miluk Coos and an enrollment member of the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians. She has worked for her tribe in the capacity of Attorney, Tribal Administrator, and Director of Education for over 30 years and served on the Culture and Elders Committees. Brenda currently works as the Title VI Indian Education Director for the Eugene 4J School District. In addition to being a traditional basket weaver, she is also a storyteller.

Brenda will be sharing Tribal stories including a story about the importance of baskets to the environment. Along with her stories, she will be including visuals and baskets.
