March Zoom-In – 10 Classes in 5 Days!

NOTE: Select only one of these classes; you cannot take both classes on Friday. To see a list of all 2024 Zoom-In classes and any overlapping schedules, click here.

Zoom-In classes are open to CBBG members and non-members. Materials will be mailed to registrants; sorry, no option for Canadians. The last day to register is Thursday, February 8, 2024. This also is the last day for refunds. We will take names for a waiting list when a class fills, until February 8. Email ColumbiaBasinBasketryGuild@gmail.com with the class name and your contact information to be put on the wait list.

Instructor: Cael Chappell

Description: Twining and/or reverse twining in waxed linen thread to create a necklace/pendant. A great project for beginners, or for anyone wanting to make a pendant to match an outfit or earrings. Ability to weave small is required - but if you haven’t woven this small before, this is a good opportunity to try your hand at it. Instructor will contact you with color choices. Size, colors, patterns will vary for each student. Your project will be about 2"h x 2"w x 1/10"d

Tools needed: Scissors. Optional: Tape measure, small packing tool. *We strongly encourage you to have a second (smartphone) camera over your workspace for demonstration, questions, and problem solving. This greatly aids the instructor, as well as helping you. You can use the DIY camera stand*

Tapestry with Anne Bowers

Instuctor: Anne Bowers

Description: This basket is so unique - woven on cane spokes that are inserted into a wood base, there is a plastic mold that will guide the weaving and remain on the inside of the basket. (Base with spokes already inserted will be provided so that students can begin weaving.) Students will weave with waxed linen and cane, but the fun really begins when students choose between a variety of chenille yarns provided to make a tapestry unique to their basket. Wire will also be offered to enhance the tapestry weaving. A unique rim will complete the basket. Your project will be 2-1/2"w x 8"h

Tools needed: Small container for water, awl, shears, a few clothespins, and sharp scissors that will cut waxed linen and yarn. *We strongly encourage you to have a second (smartphone) camera over your workspace for demonstration, questions, and problem solving.
