Description: We will gather cedar bark (Thuja plicata) on Friday, May 1, 9:30 am - 4 pm. This gathering is at RSG Forest Products in Kalama, WA. We will pull from logs.
Our partners in Kalama have been remarkably supportive. Josh is our new Forest Manager. Please show your appreciation and bring a small gift — a small basket is suggested. Thank you in advance for any donation.
You can get as much cedar as you can process that day. Processing means stripping sections from logs and removing the outer bark. Do NOT take outer bark home. If you have not pulled cedar at a woodlot before, we will help you get started.
Tools Needed: Sharp knife, something to pry the bark off (pry bar, large screwdriver, etc.). The weather should be nice. Bring water for drinking.
