April General Meeting with CBBG’s Indigenous Basketry Map Project – Woven Legacies: Indigenous Basketry and Plants in Oregon

Date and time: Thursday, April 16, 2026. 6:30pm PDT.

Location: Online via Zoom

Cost: Free. No need to RSVP. All Guild members will be sent a Zoom link via email prior to the meeting.

Description: For the past year, the CBBG Diversity team has been working to create a map that shows Native American Basketry in Oregon. The goals for this project are to increase knowledge about traditional basketry and to make learning about basketry accessible statewide.

This Map provides needed resources for all public-school teachers who teach Tribal History, Shared History, which is part of the mandatory Native American education in Oregon. Additionally, the Map will be a great resource for libraries and Indigenous Heritage displays. CBBG will use the Map for displays and demonstrations.

This project has come to life through the talent and skills of many CBBG members. Meet the team and learn more about the effort behind it, by attending this general meeting.

Aaron Carapella, map maker, will join us. Learn more about the illustrator, Tennepah Brainard.

This presentation includes conversation about uplifting the Guild through partnerships: “many hands make light work.”

CBBG’s Indigenous Basketry Map project is being funded by the Oregon Cultural Trust, the Regional Arts & Culture Council, and Three Rivers Foundation.
