The willow leaves are dropping, signaling that time is near for CBBG members (only) to begin reaping our seventh season’s growth at the Our Table Cooperative farm. Harvesting is a lot of fun, and we need your assistance leading the harvest days in January and early February to keep our willow project rolling.
Mark your calendars for Lead Harvester Training on either:
Sunday December 7, 2025, 10am – 2pm or Saturday December 13, 2025, 10am – 2pm
Caring for the willow plot (including harvest season) is the way that we are able to provide local willow for upcoming classes, and for members like yourselves to supply individual projects.
Even if you were a lead last year, we strongly recommend you participate in this year’s training in order to refresh your memories on the harvesting methods. And it’s always fun to get together :).
BONUS INCENTIVE:
In addition to deepening your relationship with the full willow process and the awesome weavers that you’ll meet during harvest, there are other incentives for leads.
When leading a group harvest you will receive a volunteer credit of $10/volunteer hour, rather than the typical $5/volunteer credit for other willow volunteering. This credit can be used either to purchase Guild Willow or toward the willow material fee for any Guild-sponsored willow classes utilizing Our Table grown willow. Dry willow is sold at $10/lb
HOW TO PREPARE:
Please dress for cold and/or wet weather. Bring warm insulated gloves, rain gear, hat, sitting/kneeling pad.
Please bring pruners and loppers, if you have them. If you don’t, the Guild has several that can be used.
Bring lunch, water, any sustenance you need. The Our Table Store will be open during willow lead training and harvest.
**Very important--Please bring your calendars so that you can sign up to lead some harvest days this winter.
WHERE TO GO:
Our Table is at 13390 SW Morgan Rd., Sherwood, OR 97140. As you enter their long driveway leading to the store, the road forms a “T” in front of the store. Turn right and go past the hoop houses, composting area, a few rows of blueberries, all on your left. Then you will see the plot itself which has a chain link fence and is adjacent to a red building with a small parking area, also on your left.
