Tools: Small sharp knife, gardening clippers, a bag, basket, or box for bark. Clothespins or clips to keep the bark flat. Chair and water.

Clothing: Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes or boots.

Description: We will gather in a forest on a land owner’s property. It’s a dense forest and, for safety, people who have mobility challenges may not find this any fun. The trees are large with a few smaller ones scattered. Our host doesn't mind if we kill the tree, meaning we can debark the whole tree's inner bark and outer bark.

Indigenous peoples used cherry bark as decoration in their basket designs, and it was used for wrapping the joints of many implements, such as spears, arrows and fire drills.
