Description: CBBG needs members to lead its winter willow harvest. Come and be trained and sign up for a harvest session. Caring for the willow plot (including harvest season) is the way that we are able to provide local willow for upcoming classes, and for members to supply material for personal projects. Even if you were a lead last year, we strongly recommend you participate in this year’s training in order to refresh your memory on the harvesting methods. And it’s always fun to get together!

What you need:

● Dress for cold and/or wet weather. Bring warm insulated gloves, rain gear, hat, sitting/kneeling pad.

● Bring pruners and loppers, if you have them. If you don’t, the Guild has several that can be used. 

● Bring lunch, water, any sustenance you need. The Our Table Store may not be open during willow lead training and harvest.

● **Very important--Please bring your calendar so that you can sign up to lead those harvest days this winter!

BONUS INCENTIVES for LEADS

In addition to deepening your relationship with the full willow process and the awesome weavers you’ll meet during harvest, there are other incentives, too!

1. When leading a group harvest you will receive a volunteer credit of $10/volunteer hour, instead of the typical $5/volunteer hour for other willow volunteering. This credit can be used either to purchase guild willow or toward the willow material fee for Guild-sponsored willow classes that use Our Table grown willow. Dry willow is sold at $10/pound. 

2. Leads have first dibs to buy last year’s dry willow at the training days.

New bonus for 2027: After we have first secured the willow needed for Jo Campbell-Amsler’s class, you will also get part of the harvest.
