September General Meeting: Twining and Color with Claudia Mullek

  • Multnomah Arts Center Auditorium 7688 Southwest Capitol Highway Portland, OR, 97219 United States (map)

About the program:

The Guild supported Claudia Mullek's participation in a recent class with Lois Russell, a notable weaving instructor on the East Coast. The class looked at new uses of an ancient basketry technique, twining.

Claudia will present what she learned, as well as insights from her own personal journey developing the unique character of her basketry.

About the presenter:

Claudia Mullek moved from Redondo Beach, California to Entiat, Washington after a 30-year career as a fashion and textile designer.

In September 2007, she had an opportunity to attend Tidal Twinings. She enjoyed this introduction to basket weaving and continues to explore the many possibilities of the form.

Claudia also is the creator of the Northwest Basket Weavers annual calendar, responsible for the exceptional photography each year.

Who can attend:

The Guild's monthly programs are free and open to all Guild members. Guests considering membership are also welcome to attend a program before deciding to join the Guild.
